Austurey has been owned by the same family since 1926. Today the family still raises sheep as well as running a heating utility and water supply utility. Part of the lake Apavatn and the river Hólaá is also part of Austurey´s land, which is a popular place to fish.
We started building six cottages in the summer of 2017, which were ready on the 1st of June 2018 …
Austurey Cottages offers lake views and features accommodation with a patio and a coffee machine. Thingvellir National Park is located approximately 20 minutes away. This apartment includes an outdoor barbecue, free Wi-Fi, free private parking, and a self-catering option.
The apartment has a ready-made double bed, a bathroom, bed linen, towels, a flat-screen TV, a dining area, and a fully equipped kitchenette. It also boasts a terrace with mountain views. The bathroom is fitted with a shower, free toiletries, and a hairdryer.

Austurey – Lakefront Villa is located in Austurey 3 and offers a large garden, panoramic lake and river view, and a private beach area. This villa provides free private parking, and the surrounding area is ideal for hiking, kayaking, fishing and other outdoor activities.
The villa features four bedrooms, two bathrooms, bed linen, towels, a flatscreen
TV´s, Wi-Fi, a dining area, and a fully equipped kitchen. It also boasts a terrace with a large hot tub. The bathrooms are fitted with a shower and bath, free toiletries, a hairdryer, and bathrobes are provided.
At Austurey – Lakefront Villa, guests can enjoy an indoor sauna, a hot tub on
the terrace and outdoor seating and barbecue area.
In summer – kayaks and fishing rods with permits for guests that book on our
